Blog Mini-Series (Post 1): A Space to Cope, Create, Connect, and Be Yourself

We're Mary Ramatici, LCSW, owner of Ripple Therapy, and Lindsay Orleans, LCSW, owner of Orleans & Co. Therapy. We've been leading groups for children and teens together since 2021 and we're so glad you're here! Over the next few weeks, we'll also be sharing a short blog series about who we are and why we believe these workshops matter so much for young people.

Mary Ramatici, LCSW, owner of Ripple Therapy, and Lindsay Orleans, LCSW, owner of Orleans & Co. Therapy, began our social work careers together in 2019. In 2021, we started facilitating children’s and adolescent groups together, and over the years, we have had the opportunity to create and lead numerous group series.

From the beginning, our groups have centered around three things: building coping skills, creating connection, and using creativity as a pathway for self-expression. We have also incorporated animal-assisted therapy, giving children and teens opportunities to interact with animals while learning emotional wellness skills.

After facilitating numerous groups together, we began to see just how meaningful these spaces could be for young people. We heard from children, teens, and families that being part of a group helped create a safe sense of belonging and shared experience. Instead of thinking, “Everyone else knows how to handle this except me,” or “I’m the only one dealing with this,” young people could begin to recognize, “Maybe I’m not alone in this after all.”

Over the next few weeks, we’ll share more about each part of our workshops!
